Airwell Pumps can boast to having many of Australia’s largest mining and industrial companies as its clients.
Although the Airwell pump is at home in applications with flow rates up to 2 l/sec, the system wins most acclaim for its ability to operate in applications with variable or tapering flow. Inbuilt automation allows the pump to optimise flow in accordance with the bore recharge, even in applications where the recharge may eventually cease, and no harm will be done to the pump by running dry.
Limited moving parts allow the Airwell Pump to operate in harsh environments that often render other pump equipment ineffective in a short period of time. Built in Australia to the highest standards, our standard range are manufactured from 316L stainless steel, with an optional range manufactured from SAF2205 Duplex where corrosive conditions where 316L is not suitable.
Airwell carry significant quantities of stock for simple system implementation.
For more specialised applications, We offer our own, fully equipped factory and in-house design department that allows Airwell Pumps to provide a fully tailored, site specific solution, quickly and efficiently as either supply only, or fully installed.
We have a long and successful history in providing our customers with well designed and cost effective solutions that cater for their specific needs invariably offering solutions to problems too extreme for more conventional pumping methodologies.
Hydrocarbon & other pollution recovery
Airwell has extensive experience with many of Australia’s largest companies in the recovery of LNAPL’s and DNAPL’s, using a variety of methodologies including our own total fluids pumps, often in conjunction with selective skimmers, vacuum extraction and sparge systems. In order to optimise recovery, our engineered systems are based around PLC control systems, allowing both accurate control of our equipment as well as incorporating associated 3rd party processing and telemetry hardware. The PLC not only provides flexibility, accuracy and expandability, but other advantages include remote monitoring and control and integration into site SCADA systems.
Our systems can be designed for use in hazardous environments by incorporating Intrinsically Safe hardware and controls.
Leachate recovery
Airwell pumping systems are used extensively in leachate recovery both in Australia and overseas. Uses include the detection and recovery from leaks in residue ponds, tailings dams and landfill sites. We have experience in developing systems for both hazardous and non hazardous installations.
Variable and Low flow rates
Although an
Airwell is capable of flow rates up to 2 L/s, it often wins its most acclaim from its ability to adjust its flow rate automatically to match the recharge flow of your dewatering bore with no risk of damaging the pump by forking the bore.
Grit handling ability
There are no parts in an
Airwell Pump likely to be damaged by grit or sand enabling their use in dewatering applications where un-developed and uncased bores are to be used.
Airwell systems have been known to handle in excess of a tonne of sand per day where there is enough velocity of water to keep the sand in suspension.
Iron oxide Bacteria
There are no parts in an
Airwell Pump that can be damaged by iron oxide bacteria, and experience in real applications has demonstrated that an
Airwell will run up to three times longer than standard pumping methods before cleaning is requiring. Because the bacteria thrive in the heat and turbulence inherent in some other pumping methods, we believe this benefit is linked to the fact that the
Airwell Pump is a low turbulence unit and typically runs much cooler than the surrounding water.
Distance from power
This is a core feature of the
Airwell system. An
Airwell system uses compressed air as its energy source to operate, and the air is produced by an air compressor located close to existing power. The air is then reticulated to the pumps through an inexpensive airline, and often over significant distances, usually over many kilometres. By sizing the airline correctly, a single compressor can provide the energy for just one pump or a complete bore field with hundreds of pumps.
Corrosive conditions
Our standard range of pumps is manufactured from 316L stainless steel which has excellent qualities for use in a wide range of applications. However, in extreme and corrosive conditions we also have a range of pumps manufactured from SAF2205 Duplex.
Because we are a manufacturer, we may be able to make systems from other materials to suit your application.
